These Baseus earbuds achieve a low price point. In our Baseus W12 review, we determine if it’s actually good value. The results surprised us.
Product Summary: Ultra-Budget True Wireless Earbuds
The Baseus W12 earbuds are often available for under $20 and add some fantastic features at a very affordable price.
The overall build quality of these wireless earbuds is solid. The familiar in-ear design is compact and lightweight. The Baseus W12 are super lightweight and adjustable with 3 ear tips available. Either of the true wireless earbuds can both be connected independently with dual channel transmission. These wireless earbuds are intact in charging cases of basic squarish shape with a matt fishing.
This model of wireless earphones has a stable connection with Bluetooth 5.1 functionality and a mode for low latency that great for great for gamers. The model does not feature any active noise cancellation system. It does feature ENC (environmental noise cancellation) technology for phone calls. 10 mm drivers contribute great sound quality for this price point. Music sounds lively on these Baseus earbuds without overemphasized bass.
Battery Life and Controls
On average, The Baseus W12 provides a just okay 5 hours of battery life. However, the W12 true wireless earbuds can be fully charged 4 times with the charging case. That’s 20 extra hours of battery life. The charging case can be charged with a USB-C cable. It also has fast charging capability with a 10 minute charge allowing for two hours of music playback.
With the IPX5 rating, these earbuds have solid water resistance. A IPX5 rating is enough to workout through sweat and rain. Although the case size isn’t that compact, it will still fit in most pockets. Connectivity is also good on the Basues W12 earbuds. It’s stable and consistent at 25+ feet of distance and quickly connects to the paired devices. You can choose to connect with a single earbuds or both.
The touch controls have some control functionality. Unfortunately, they can’t increase or decrease volume. Here is a quick breakdown.
Touch Control Scheme
- Play or pause playback – Double tap left or right earbud
- Move to next Song – Hold right earbud
- Return to previous song – Hold left earbud
- Activate voice assistant – Triple tap left or right earbud
Design and Comfort
As mentioned earlier, the design and comfort of these wireless earbuds are solid. The Baseus W12 true wireless earbuds sit securely without fear they’ll fall out. This allows for solid comfort during long listening sessions. The rubber ear tips feel a little flimsy, but I was able to achieve a seal with the medium tips.
Call and Sound Quality
The sound quality might be the best feature of the Baseus W12 earbuds. The sound signature is warm with the bass being overpowering. This allows the mid-range frequencies to shine. Vocals sound full and not tiny like some low-cost earbuds. The soundstage and detail also sound a little better than their price would indicate. High frequencies come through smooth without sounding harsh. While many budget earbuds go for a muddy and bass heavy EQ, the Baseus W12 is different. It manages a sound signature that is engaging without over-emphasized bass.
Unfortunately, phone calls aren’t as impressive on with these Baseus earbuds. Though they tout their environmental noise cancellation for phone calls, it didn’t seem effective. Voices through the mic can sound a little tiny. Even the AC in the background comes through more than it should. These shouldn’t be your first choice for a conference call or zoom calls.

In Conclusion: Ultra Budget Baseus Earbuds
The Baseus W12 true wireless earbuds have sound quality that exceed the expectations of their price. They have a familiar design for earbuds, but they are lightweight and comfortable. The touch control functionality is missing volume control, but sufficient otherwise. Luckily, the overall battery life, fast charging, and Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity are also great features. Add the audio quality and you have a winner at this price point. These headphones along with the Tozo A1 are some of the better ultra-budget earbuds.
